Aviance Drexler, affectionately known as “Avi,” was one of the lives lost in the River North shooting that left the city shaken. She was 27 years old, a dedicated health care worker, and a beloved wife and sister.
“She was all dressed up, smiling, happy, excited… and now here we are this morning,” said her uncle Kelvin White through tears. “It’s devastating.”
Avi was known for her selflessness and compassion—qualities that led her into the health care field, where she served others with dignity and love. She was at the mixtape release party alongside her sister, showing support for her friend Mello Buckzz, when tragedy struck.
Her sister was also shot in the chaos and is still recovering at Stroger Hospital.
Avi’s family now mourns a life full of light and love, stolen by senseless violence. Her absence leaves a void that words can’t fill.
